Ceilings, T&G & trim

Real wood ceilings, milled down the road.

Ceilings, walls, soffits and accent walls in local fir, pine and spruce, handled by one mill from the log to the moulder. The wood is air dried, kiln dried to 9% and straight-line ripped here before it's profiled, which is why it goes up tight.

That's what one of our contractors tells us about our T&G next to any other on the market. Every board is straight-line ripped before it's profiled, so the joints close up without a fight and the crew keeps moving.

Ceiling liners

Two ways to put wood on a ceiling.

A rough ceiling liner in a barn and a kiln dried, straight-lined, circle sawn ceiling in a multi-million dollar home are very different orders. Tell us which one you're building.

Rough sawn Doug fir ceiling liner

Rough sawn liner

Boards straight off the mill with the saw marks left in, true dimension, green or air dried. It suits barns, shops, porches and cabins, and it's the quicker, less expensive way to a wood ceiling.

Tight-gap Doug fir tongue and groove

Tongue and groove

Kiln dried, straight-line ripped here and then profiled as nickel gap, V-joint, shiplap or square edge. This is the ceiling for the living room, and it goes up tight.

Texture

Circle sawn, band sawn or smooth.

Circle sawn refers to the wide, sweeping arcs a circular blade leaves across the face of a board. A band mill can't produce them, and they can't really be faked. The texture is available on a rough sawn liner or on T&G.

Band sawn is the texture that comes off our mill, and smooth means planed. Trim can be run to match, including casing, base and custom profiles. If the knives for your profile don't exist, we can buy them.

Lead time depends on species, what's in the kiln and the production schedule. Call us early in your project and we'll get you on the list.

Straight-line ripped

Every board gets a straight-line rip here before it goes to our moulding partner, and we're working on bringing the profiling in-house too. Tell us the square footage and the look, and we'll quote it.
